The Detroit Red Wings have taken points in five straight outings as they head into a road date with the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena on Saturday night. The Penguins have alternated losses and wins dating back to Nov. 21 and they are coming off a 6-2 victory over Dallas on Thursday.
The Detroit Red Wings are:
- 5-11 in their last 16 overall
- 10-21 in their last 31 road games
- 3-8 in their last 11 games against the Eastern Conference
The Pittsburgh Penguins are:
- 36-15 in their last 51 home games
- 23-7 in their last 30 games against teams with losing records
- 36-16 in their last 52 games against the Eastern Conference
This is not just Crosby’s show in Pittsburgh, even though he leads the team in points despite having played in only 18 games. Evgeni Malkin is second on the team with 23 points and eight players are in double-digits in the points category. Forward Phil Kessel has tallied points in seven of the last nine games. Detroit is 5-11 in its last 16 overall, 10-21 in its last 31 on the road, and 3-8 in its last 11 against the Eastern Conference. The Penguins are 36-15 in their last 51 at home, 23-7 in their last 30 against losing opponents, 36-16 in their last 52 against the Eastern Conference, 4-1 in the last five meetings between the two teams, and 8-2 in their last 10 at home against the Red Wings. Count on those trends continuing.
